Pastoral Desk reopens at Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town

Cape Town pastoral desk reopened

Father Pablo Velasquez has reopened Scalabrini Centre’s Multi-faith Pastoral Desk, where migrants and refugees from all faiths and backgrounds, can seek spiritual discussion, guidance and support.

Whilst the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town caters to many material needs of migrants and refugees – from documentation to employment access – the spiritual needs of clients are sometimes overlooked. “It is beautiful to see so many departments services so many needs of clients at Scalabrini – but sometimes there is something deeper and more spiritual that cannot be expressed there”. Whilst many migrants and refugees face several struggles to travel to and settle in South Africa, it is determination and hope that often keeps people going, and Father Pablo sees it as important to keep that hope alive.

Recognizing the diverse faiths and backgrounds of migrant and refugee populations, Father Pablo stresses that the Pastoral Desk is open to anyone from any background.

Please ask to see Father Pablo at Reception at the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town between 10am and 12pm on Thursdays. Consultation is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
