News on the Cape Town Refugee Reception Office
The Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town and other Civil Society organisations attended a Stakeholder meeting with the Department of Home Affairs, Asylum Seeker Management, concerning the opening of the Cape Town Refugee Reception Office (CTRRO) at the new location in Epping.
What you need to know
By Appointment: You will need to make an appointment before going to the New Office. It is recommended that you have a copy of the email you received on your phone or printed out to show at the Cape Town Refugee Reception Office (CTRRO) when you arrive. This email is proof of your appointment.
Appointment Dates at the CTRRO: If you already have an appointment booked for the old CTRRO location at Customs House, please note, your appointment will now be at the new office in Epping at 12 Grenville Avenue, Epping/Goodwood, just off Gunners Circle. See the map below. Currently there are still limited services being provided at the old address in Customs House until 17 March 2023, but asylum seekers and refugees with appointments are encouraged to approach the new office in Epping even if their appointment says to go to Customs House.
Missed appointments at the CTRRO: If you missed your appointment at the CTRRO, it is suggested that you write an email to Home Affairs at inquiries.ctrro@dha.gov.za to schedule another appointment instead of going to the centre without a current appointment email.
Enquiries on progress of an asylum process eg extensions /family joining: Clients are encouraged to use the Inquiries email address: inquiries.ctrro@dha.gov.za for questions on the status of the asylum process. If there is not response after three weeks or you are not satisfied with the response you receive, there are other email addresses that matters should be escalated to. If you are not satisfied with the response from the relevant escalation email addresses you may escalate the matter to the centre manager.
