The volunteer will provide administrative support across the programme and will be supporting students 1-1 in the computer lab through in-lab technical support and tutoring. The volunteer will be assigned competencies to study related to their experience and may be required to develop and deliver workshops.
Must be available 2-5 days per week (M-F) 8:30-4:30 for a minimum of 3 months
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Teaching and tutoring
- Programme and administrative tasks (sending data, student of the month, update blackboard, open/close lab, sanitise, computer log updating)
- Study degree competencies
- AA and/or BA Curriculum design
- Pre-degree teaching assistant (if applicable, depending on admissions cycle)
- Innovations Project: to be determined based on the interests and skills of the volunteer and the current needs of the programme (e.g host an enrichment workshop series, assist on the creation of a UpLearn newsletter, contribute to photo project, student motivation prize initiative) – where there is capacity and time
Skills required:
Essential
- Undergraduate degree (or in final year) in with majors in the following: mathematics, humanities subjects (social science, anthropology, English, history), communications, natural science, commerce subjects (business, management, economics, marketing, HR, operations)
- Teaching or tutoring experience (3+ months)
- Passion for education and adult learning
- Agile and able to step when needed
- Tech savvy and a quick learner
Desirable
- Teaching qualification
- Teaching or tutoring experience with adults (6+ months)
- Postgraduate degree in mathematics, humanities subjects (social science, anthropology, English, history), communications, natural science, commerce subjects (business, management, economics, marketing, HR, operations)
- Experience teaching in higher education institution
