As part of our strategy to advocate for and promote the Rights of refugees, the Welcoming Programme now includes weekly workshops on what asylum seekers and refugees are entitled to by law. The workshop is given mainly in French and educates the refugee on local conditions and on how to access education, medical, legal and social assistance. The facilitator of these workshops is supplied by partner organisation, ARESTA.
Our VCT accredited counseling team run workshops on promoting HIV/AIDS awareness to our clients, our staff and for partner organisations. The thrust of the workshop is to offer basic awareness around the virus, to promote positive living and to work to reduce the stigma still attached to the virus
Art Therapy workshops are also run from the Centre. The workshops use creativity and craft to explore chosen themes. Themes of personal and cultural identity, home and anger have offered platform for debate and conversation around real problems.
